Punjab Government Announces Interest-Free Business Loans scheme for Women Entrepreneurs

Interest-Free Business Loans scheme for Women

In a major step toward empowering women economically, the Punjab government has announced a new interest-free business loan scheme for women aimed specifically at women entrepreneurs. This initiative is being widely welcomed as a positive move to help women become financially independent and active participants in the business sector.

Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafi Hussain, shared that the scheme will be launched within the next two months. The program is designed to remove financial barriers that often prevent women from starting or expanding their businesses.

Loan Details and Eligibility

Under this scheme, eligible women will be able to receive interest-free loans of up to PKR 500,000. The loans can be used either to start a new business or to expand an existing one.

The program will be implemented by the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC). Women who have graduated from Women Business Incubation Centers will be eligible to apply. In addition, skilled women, artisans, and handicraft workers will also be able to benefit from this opportunity, allowing a broader segment of women to access financial support.

Focus on Small Cities and Underserved Areas

Speaking about the purpose of the initiative, Chaudhry Shafi Hussain emphasized that many women especially those living in small cities and less developed areas face serious difficulties in accessing capital. This scheme aims to bridge that gap by providing direct financial assistance without the burden of interest.

The government hopes that this step will significantly increase women’s participation in business activities and help them overcome long-standing financial challenges.

New Business and Training Centers Announced

The announcement was made during a meeting with a delegation from the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gujrat, held at PSIC House. During the discussion, various issues related to women’s economic empowerment and business growth were addressed.

In addition to the loan scheme, the provincial minister also announced plans to establish a Business Facilitation Center and a Women Business Incubation Center in Gujrat. These centers will provide women with technical training, business guidance, and professional support.

A dedicated office space will also be allocated for the Women Chamber of Commerce Gujrat within these facilities, ensuring better coordination, mentorship, and institutional support for women entrepreneurs.
