BUREWALA: As part of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision to economically empower rural women via Punjab Livestock Program, a special livestock distribution ceremony was held in Tehsil Burewala. During the event, 137 cows and buffaloes were distributed among deserving rural women through a transparent balloting process.

The initiative specifically targets widowed, divorced, and underprivileged women, helping them become self-reliant by providing a sustainable source of income through livestock farming.

Transparent Distribution Through Digital Balloting

The livestock were distributed fairly using a digital lottery system, ensuring transparency and equal opportunity for all applicants. In addition to the animals, each selected woman was also provided with a Livestock Card worth Rs. 5,000, which can be used for animal healthcare and related needs.

This step aims to support beneficiaries in properly maintaining their livestock and improving productivity.

Livestock Program Aims for Economic Independence

Speaking on the occasion, DG Livestock Punjab Dr. Syed Nadeem Badr stated that the Livestock Asset Distribution Program is designed to provide respectable employment opportunities to women who lack financial support. He emphasized that livestock ownership can significantly improve household income and living standards in rural areas.

District Vehari Statistics Share

Additional Director Livestock Dr. Mohsin Ali informed the gathering that 932 applications were received in District Vehari. After digital balloting, 363 deserving women were selected to receive cows and buffaloes under the program.

A large number of women attended the event, expressing appreciation for the government’s initiative.
