Fitrana and Fidya Amounts for Ramadan 2026
The UAE Fatwa Council has officially announced the amounts for Zakat al-Fitr (Fitrana) and Fidya for the holy month of Ramadan 2026, following a detailed field price study conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism.
These amounts have been set to ensure ease and clarity for residents while helping those in need during the blessed month.

Zakat al-Fitr for Ramadan 2026
The Fatwa Council has fixed Zakat al-Fitr at:
- 2.5 kilograms of rice per person, or
- 25 UAE dirhams in cash per person
Zakat al-Fitr is obligatory for every financially capable Muslim, both men and women. It is meant to purify the fast and provide assistance to the needy before Eid.
The payment can be made from the beginning of Ramadan until before the Eid al-Fitr prayer, and it is strongly recommended to pay it earlier so that beneficiaries can make use of it in time.
Fidya for Missing Fasts
For individuals who are unable to fast due to valid reasons such as chronic illness or old age, the Fidya has been set as:
- 3.25 kilograms of wheat, or
- 20 dirhams per day, to be given to one needy person
The same amount applies in cases where Fidya is given in the form of food distribution instead of cash.

Fidya for Breaking a Fast Deliberately
The council also clarified the amount for deliberately invalidating a fast during Ramadan without a valid excuse. In such cases:
- 1,200 dirhams must be paid
- This amount is to be distributed among 60 needy people
Fidya Related to Hajj or Umrah Violations
For prohibited actions committed during Hajj or Umrah, the Fidya has been fixed at:
- 120 dirhams, to be distributed among six eligible recipients
Minimum Cost of an Iftar Meal
The minimum cost for providing one Iftar meal has been set at:
- 20 dirhams per person

A spokesperson for the UAE Fatwa Council emphasized that Zakat al-Fitr is a mandatory charity during Ramadan and urged the public to make payments through approved and recognized channels. These include:
- The Zakat Fund
- Emirates Red Crescent
- Other officially recognized charitable organizations in the UAE
This ensures transparency, proper distribution, and that the assistance reaches deserving individuals efficiently.
